Maryland Death Fest 2011

In 2003 two guys decided to make a fest that brought together the most legendary and some best current underground bands. This year I think they have out-done themselves. In my opinion this is the best line-up in the festivals history. I am going to try my fucking hardest to make it to Baltimore this year. Holy fuck just look at the goddamn flyer. --Jake

Amy Lynn

This is mine and Jake's roommate Amy Lynn Scott. We have been roommates for over 5 years and she is like a sister to me, definitely an honorary Hillman. She is an artist, designer, and photographer. She has a blog as well and also recently started an Etsy account. Right now she just has up vintage and handmade dresses so lady readers, go check it out!!!! Everyone should also check out her blog and follow! Enjoy. -Dyl

25.1.11

Drive Angry/ Nick Cage

Drive Angry is one of the many new Nicholas Cage movies coming out. This movie was filmed in Shreveport and a few of my friends were also extras in the movie. Nick loves Louisiana. His son is enrolled in preschool at a private school here (where my girlfriend's mom teaches) and his pet water monitor is currently being taken care of by the people at Critter co. in Bossier city. This movie looks very entertaining and according to Jake, "that's what movies are supposed to do". It hits theaters Feb 25th. Get Stoked!!!!!!!  -Dyl

24.1.11

Shameless

The third episode of Showtime's Shameless aired last night. I haven't had a chance to watch it yet, but the first two episodes are fucking hysterical. I can tell this is going to be one of my new favorite shows. The show centers around Frank Gallagher (William H. Macy) and his dysfunctional family. Frank is a drunk and uses his disability check to feed his addiction which leaves the family to raise themselves, which they do a fairly good job of. Oh, and did I mention the oldest daughter Fiona (Emmy Rossum) is a honey bunny. I suggest you check out this fucking show. It comes on Sunday nights at 9pm on Showtime, or just be like me and download it! --Jake

52 Weeks Without Contest! January

Alright, RadLife has another contest for all you diligent followers! but this one won't be over till the end of the year. Remember Jake's post about his long list of resolutions to go with-out something new each week? (If you are new to the blog or just have not read, see post titled "52 Weeks Without List"). Or click here- http://tharadlife.blogspot.com/2011/01/52-weeks-without-list.html.  Well here is a look at what we came up with for the contest.

FULL CONTEST RULES:
*Every Saturday Jake and Raiven (our roommate who decided to join Jake on most of these things on this list) pick something from The List to go without starting from 12am Sunday to 11:59pm Saturday.
*Anytime Jake and/or Raiven breakdown and indulge themselves and do the thing they decided to go without that week they have to put money in a jar. Towards the end of the year there should be a nice bit of cash, because let's face it, there a quite a few difficult things to do on this list.
*Each month there will be a small contest on our blog and each monthly winner receive some RADLIFE goodies (whatever we decide at the time to give you) and your name will be put into the Grand Prize drawing.
*Each monthly contest will either be a question you have to answer correctly or a task we ask you to complete.
*For your name to be picked we ask that you post your name, your answer, and our blog http://tharadlife.blogspot.com/ onto your facebook. If you don't post our blog to your facebook, your answer will not be counted.
*At the end of the year we will have 12 names to draw from and if we draw your name you get the grand prize and win all of the money Jake and/or Raiven put into the jar! (However much it may or maynot be). In week 2 Raiven already broke number 16 on the list and has put a dollar into the jar. We will keep you updated on how much the cash prize has grown (if any) each month.

FIRST MONTH'S CONTEST:
Now that you know all the rules let's do this thing! For the first month to get us started we are going to ask you to answer a question about co-founder of this blog, Jake Self.

The question is, WHAT WOULD BE JAKE'S PERFECT MEAL??????
You need to post 2 entrées, a side, a drink, and dessert. Closest answer wins!!
Winner will be chosen during the first week of Feburary.
Now if you don't know or have never met Jake this might seem like a daunting task but don't worry because there will be broader questions asked as the contest progresses. Good luck! and guess away!!!!

Parks and Rec sample.

I love the show Parks and Recreation and this song samples the theme song. Enjoy- Dyl.

The Donkey Kong

So as you may know, me and Dyl are chef of a different nature. We like to mix things together that you wouldn't think would go well together and then BAM, deliciousness to the extreme. Well today I will teach you how to make a Donkey Kong. You will need waffles (we went with choclate chip), peanut butter, choclate syrup or nutella, and a banana.
First toast the waffles (obviously)

Smear on the peanut butter.

Cut up the banana and drizzle on some chocolate syrup.

Combine and enjoy!!!

--Jake

Pretty Little Liars

Alright so if you don't already know Jake and I love shows and movies that most people our age don't like. The show Pretty Little Liars on ABC Family is one great example. The second season just started and tonight is the 3rd episode (can't believe I waited this long to talk about the show) which starts at 7pm central time.
PLL was an 8 book series written by Sara Shepard before it was turned into a tv show created by Marlene King. The show's first episode starts out with 5 girls all who are best friends and one of the girls (named Allison) goes missing. The show then fast forwards to a year later and you find out the girls have grown apart ever since Allison went missing but about a year later just as school is starting the girls missing body is found. This draws the girls somewhat back together and as the investigation progresses the girls receive threatening messages from a stalker known only as 'A'. The girls all have secrets that could potentially ruin their lives and this 'A' threatens to tell those secrets if they don't do what 'A' says. Then the rest of the episodes up to now are about the girls trying to figure out just who this 'A' character really is.

This short review of the show may not make you want to sit down and watch it but me and Jake love this show and I will tell you why. It has some pretty cheesy dialogue that is funny to laugh at. It stars 4 gorgeous young ladies that are great to look at (SERIOUSLY, THOSE LADIES BE LOOKING GOOD!). Lastly, it has great drama and suspense to keep you on the edge of your seat that makes you want watch each week just so you can finally figure out who the mysterious 'A' character is.
Get your friends together and watch this show! I have enjoyed it so far and can't wait for tonights episode! -Dyl

Plants Vs. Zombies

There's this game called "Plants VS. Zombies" and it is one of the most addicting games I've ever played. I know it sounds stupid, but it is not! I downloaded it yesterday and was instantly hooked. The game revolves around guarding your house from hordes of advancing zombies. You plant different types of plants to defend the house.  This game is up there with some of my favorite games like Battle Bugs (PC) and Zombies Ate My Neighbors (SNES) for instance. So go out and buy this game or do like I did and download a pirated copy for free! Play this fucking game fr00ts! --Jake

FLYer.

It's a ways away but this flyer is pretty tight. Radlife's good buddy Nathan Treme made it, along with our new blog pic at the top of our page. Thanks Nathan!!!!!

Ps. THIS JUST IN! Nathan will be doing a guest post on the RadLife! Stay tuned for the awesomeness he will be sharing with the world and our RadLife fans!

Rad Night.

The art show Friday at Minicine? turned out to be great success!! Tons of people came out, had fun and got rad with us. Things didn't really get started until around 7 or so but more and more people kept filing in and were checking out all the great art on the walls and watching the bands play. There was almost too many bands playing that night but it also kept the show fun and lively from beginning to end. I got to meet  some new people and make new friends and got lots of compliments on the artwork that I put in the show. I actually sold a lot more pieces than expected and I am thankful for each person who enjoyed my work.
My band Retard Wizard played that night right before 11 and as soon as we brought our banner out people were yelling and getting stoked to see us play (mostly to see my brother Cody). My brother sings for the band and most people were excited to see my brother scream his heart out and get rowdy; he did not disappoint. He busted his lip during our first song but kept going and hopefully gave everyone a show they would not soon forget. Thanks to all who played, had art on the walls, and came out. Below are some pics from one of the actually fun nights in Shreveport. -Dyl

I want your skulls.

Yo dawgs. As you might know, I recently started trying to collect skulls. So far I'm not doing to good. I have a opossum skull and a turtle shell. There is also a raccoon skull that needs to have the meat removed and bleached. So if you or anyone you know has any skulls lying around, give them to me! I especially want a goat or pig skull. I want your fucking skulls! --Jake

One of the funnest shows at Dalzell so far has been when the band Carusella played. They are a two piece from Israel and they are rad as hell. Wish I could see them play again. Below are some new photos they had up from some of their  live shows and a link to their facebook. Enjoy- Dyl
